“There remains a crucial role for special schools in supporting children with the most complex needs and building capacity across the system.”

A key message from Claire Burton, Director of SEND & AP, Department of Education, as she opened the conference, reminding us of the vital place of specialist provision within a more inclusive education system.

Throughout the two days, we explored a wide range of workshops covering trauma-informed practice, leadership, relational approaches, curriculum design, flexible working, and innovative technology, gaining practical strategies to take back to their schools.

CONGRATULATIONS:
We also celebrated excellence at the NASSAwards2025 and our congratulations again to Wings School Notts, Northern Counties School, William Henry Smith School & Sixth Form, and Kerry Taylor at Highgate Hill House School.
