Connell Consulting is pleased to have supported Apollo Complex Care by delivering Vendor Commercial Due Diligence (VCDD) in connection with the acquisition of the group by Sovereign Capital Partners through its fifth fund, SCLP V.
This transaction marks an important step in Apollo’s next phase of growth, partnering with an experienced healthcare investor to accelerate geographic expansion, deepen clinical capability and pursue selective, strategically aligned acquisitions.
Connell Consulting was engaged to provide an independent, primary research led commercial assessment of the business, focused on testing the resilience and scalability of Apollo’s operating model in a specialist, clinically intensive segment of the market.
A Rigorous Assessment of a High-Acuity Home Care Model
Founded in 2014, Apollo has built a leading position in high-acuity healthcare-at-home services, supporting children and adults with complex clinical needs across the Midlands, North and East of England. The business operates a scalable hub model, underpinned by a central function in Wolverhampton, and a workforce of more than 1,000 healthcare assistants and approximately 150 clinical and registered nurses. It maintains relationships with more than half of England’s Integrated Care Boards (ICBs).
Commissioner Led Insight at the Core
As with all our complex care engagements, our work was anchored in extensive primary research. We undertook in-depth engagement with commissioners and wider market stakeholders to develop a granular understanding.
In high-acuity community services, the strength of commissioner confidence and the structural drivers of demand are critical to long term value. Our research provided a clear, evidence based view of these dynamics, enabling stakeholders to engage with the transaction process from a position of informed clarity.
Enabling the Next Phase of Growth
Sovereign’s investment is intended to support Apollo’s continued geographic expansion and further investment in people, technology and service quality, alongside selective acquisitions that add strategic value.
Our Vendor Commercial Due Diligence process was designed not only to withstand investor scrutiny, but also to articulate clearly the strengths of the platform and the scale of the opportunity in complex healthcare-at-home.
Demonstrating the Value of Primary Research in Specialist Healthcare
This assignment underscores the importance of detailed, ground-up research in specialist care markets where complexity, commissioner confidence and clinical capability define competitive advantage.
By combining commissioner insight, local market intelligence and operational analysis, Connell Consulting delivered a robust, evidence led assessment of Apollo’s market positioning and long-term prospects.
We congratulate the teams at Sovereign Capital Partners and Apollo Home Healthcare on completing the transaction and look forward to seeing the business continue to grow.
