National Care Home Open Week Sees Record Participation and Media Reach

This year’s Care Home Open Week (CHOW25) saw record engagement across the UK, bringing together communities, showcasing innovation in care, and boosting national awareness of the social care sector.

According to organisers, nearly two million people took part in events and activities throughout the week, with around one-third of all UK care homes participating. The Great British Care Cycle Relay also saw unprecedented involvement, marking its most successful year to date.

The campaign drew the attention of policymakers as well, with approximately 100 MPs visiting care homes in their constituencies. Media coverage was widespread: more than 190 articles, regional television features, and BBC Radio interviews reached an estimated audience of 1.6 million people.

Organisers say the campaign’s impact reflects strong collaboration across the sector and credit partner organisations for helping to deliver one of the most far-reaching celebrations of care to date.
